Practice Information

The dance group meets once a week, on Monday, at the Elk's Lodge in Garland, Texas. Garland is a suburb that is northeast of Dallas. Click here for a map to the lodge.  For information about practice times call (972) 271-7721.

Most of our practice time is devoted to learning new dances and preparing for upcoming performances.

In the spring, much of our practice time is devoted to learning new dances. Each spring the Deutscher Volkstanz Verband Texas holds a dance workshop. Many of the dances that we perform were learned at this workshop.

Most performances are in September and October so by late summer we are working hard to get them ready. In our practices, we work on the finer details of the dances such as spacing and timing. Things can get kind stressful as we try to get the dances synchronized.

By Halloween, things slow down. This year, for example, we have been working on some of the dances since February. Practices become a lot lighter and we usually will go through each of the dances once or twice. We usually break for the holidays in the first of December until the first of the year. Then we start it all over again.

Visitors are welcome to any of our practices. We do not charge admission, but depending on the season, we may not be able to spend much time with you. If there a mismatch of couples, we may be able to have you try some of the dances.

So, are you still interested?? I have put together some dance information to help you get started.
